Ms. Karban has over 30 years experience in the Health Information Management field and during that time has functioned in numerous roles related to the efficient operation of HIM/medical records departments in both acute and long-term care settings. Within that realm, she has developed expert knowledge in the areas of coding and reimbursement and has shared that expertise with others as an educator in both academic settings as well as national presentations. Committed to issues related to coding data quality and accuracy in reimbursement, she has served on the Board of Directors for a sub-set organization of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), the Society for Clinical Coding, and has publicly maintained in national presentations the need for data quality as a means of assuring accurate reimbursement in all healthcare settings.
