ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Barbara Shurna, RN, MS, Healthcare Consultant
Ms. Shurna has over 35 years of healthcare industry experience. Most recently she served in the roles of Director Business Development, Consulting Services for Accuro Healthcare Solutions and as the System Director Revenue Services for a nine hospital system in the Chicago area. Prior to that, for 7 years, she was a Director at KPMG in the Midwest Advisory Services practice where she was responsible for chargemaster, charge capture, and other revenue cycle consulting product sales and client service delivery. Ms. Shurna was also the project director for a national pharmaceutical research study and a clinical project manager for Baxter Healthcare. For the 23 years preceding the above experiences, she worked in the provider-based arena as a staff nurse, clinical nurse specialist, nurse manager, director of nursing, and vice president of nursing. She is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) and the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
